The movie was really bad but there's a scene in it where she's using one of these old bonnet dryers.C.L. Got me thinking of my own hairdryer history: Mom's bonnet hairdryer, blue vinyl cap with a tube attached. My sisters and I would take off the tube to blow dry our hair in the 70's. Mom died Oct. 5, 2016, the day this article was published. Thanks for this very specific memory of my mother.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15023065.post-54719399948895812142016-10-06T20:09:51.111-04:002016-10-06T20:09:51.111-04:00Pam, killer post!! Even as a lad I thought "This is crazy man" My mom is 83 and still goes every Friday morning!!! Sometimes I think women are still spending way too much time on their hair compared to back in the day thanks to the crazy colors (and/or constantly changing your color) and straightening treatments that didn't exist a few decades ago. Growing up with a mom & 3 sisters in the 60s & 70s, I think half our electric bill went to all the bonnets, hot combs, curling irons & blow dryers we owned--and okay, I probably spent a good 15 minutes every morning with one (along with some generous doses of "The Dry Look" hairspray) my senior year in high school 1979 :) Now that I'm 54, I'm more retro than ever--no more blow dryers or men's hairspray, but I don't leave the house without a little dab of Brylcreem in my hair :)ApacheDughttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05520433539816634566noreply@blogger.com
