Home Depot was selling decorations at the end of September. What is the rush - it's like they are saying Thanksgiving is insignificant. We waited until around Dec. 7th to decorate for Christmas.LaraAnnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15460415207474314306noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15023065.post-25334097805475598522010-11-25T11:33:21.837-05:002010-11-25T11:33:21.837-05:00Stores in my neck of the woods had the Christmas d...Stores in my neck of the woods had the Christmas decorations up before Halloween! Its ONE DAY A YEAR! I never understood why its dragged out for to up 2 months now! Too much emphasis is put on what to buy people, rather than focusing on the fact that it is nice to spend time with people you love.SUZY8-TRACKhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11847632296019432948noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15023065.post-11159302485348494642010-11-24T22:45:07.894-05:002010-11-24T22:45:07.894-05:00I am constantly complaining about this one....I re...I am constantly complaining about this one....I remember when I was a kid, and we would go shopping, and I was soooo excited to see Christmas had arrived, unlike now, when I actually moan out loud when I see Christmas decorations in August...Boo!Choleesahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11595335654681755401noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15023065.post-14859315146826491352010-11-24T20:10:07.796-05:002010-11-24T20:10:07.796-05:00"Pretty soon, we'll be pulling out the de..."Pretty soon, we'll be pulling out the decorations right after Halloween."<br />I live in Mexico and here we don't celebrate Thanksgiving so many shops DO start their Christmas promotions right after Halloween! It drives me crazy! As I write this many houses in my city are already lit with lights and Christmas trees since a couple of weeks ago at least. Our local Wal-Mart (yes, there are Wal-Marts in Mexico) has had Christmas decorations on sale since September!<br />Also, after Christmas has passed the "holiday spirit" goes on until January 6 when we celebrate The Day of Holy Kings (or the the Day of the Three Wise Men as Americans would say).Luishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07631388281199815121noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15023065.post-47312598818663106942010-11-24T19:35:34.012-05:002010-11-24T19:35:34.012-05:00Oh I TOTALLY agree!!!! Regardless, I think we could take a clue from my home country (Canada) - where hardly anyone starts decorating for Christmas until AFTER Remembrance Day (Veterans Day here) in honor and memory of those who served in the wars.Marlenehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14877001080913199818noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15023065.post-76421629948598617582010-11-24T18:02:17.720-05:002010-11-24T18:02:17.720-05:00Hahaha I absolutely agree! I agree- it is getting completely ridiculous! I feel like we're being pushed to just breeze right over thanksgiving and forget it.. I have to say I havent seen any christmas decorations outside yet thankfully haha!Decades a Go-Gohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14722809448894385095noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15023065.post-59789788939838246512010-11-24T14:29:28.776-05:002010-11-24T14:29:28.776-05:00Thank you, Natasha! I like how you call it the longest holiday of the year...<br /><br />Plus I forgot to mention this, although I did in the past from last year, but pulling out Christmas stuff before Thanksgiving is kind of disrespectful to the turkey holiday itself. Let's spread some love for Thanksgiving first before putting up a tree.Pamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18122952408610512684noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15023065.post-85742236832305824232010-11-24T14:14:40.591-05:002010-11-24T14:14:40.591-05:00THANK YOU. It's one thing to celebrate it a few weeks prior, but two months? By the time the actual holiday rolls around, I always feel so burnt out on Christmas cheer that it's the last thing I want to celebrate. I'm only half joking when I call it the longest holiday of the year!Natashanoreply@blogger.com
