I don't know about you, but I'm getting awfully excited about the latest James Bond movie being released soon, Skyfall. This year marks 50 years of Bond on the silver screen--and to get you in the 007 mood, I've pulled together pretty much every theme song used in the opening credits up through Tomorrow Never Dies. This is certainly nothing original--there have been plenty of compilations of Bond music released--but I'm also including the disco-esque version of the James Bond theme that Marvin Hamlisch arranged ("Bond 77") and Louis Armstrong's "We Have All the Time in the World" from the film On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Make yourself a martini--shaken, not stirred--and have yourself a musical time travel trip through the luscious Bond legacy.

Hey, this music gadget is pretty cool--speaking of cool gadgets, I thought I'd miss them in that last Bond flick but Daniel Craig is so awesome he doesn't need 'em :)
I just heard Adele's song for the upcoming film & I think that was a smart move--it kinda has a "retro-Bond" vibe to it!
Doug -- I use Grooveshark.com to listen to music online and create playlists. It is free and I find it more user friendly than Spotify.
Dave -- Oh, snap! Paul McCartney was on there when I put together the playlist the day before but Grooveshark must have removed it by the time I exported the songs into the player. They don't include Beatles or solo Beatles songs, I think because of copywrite issues.
Yea, how could you miss Live and Let Die. For a lot of us THAT was our introduction to Wings. And don't forget that "For Your Eyes Only" featured Mike Post and ABC made that soundtrack THEIR soundtrack for sports for most of the 80s.
I haven't heard the Adele song and I sort of want to save it until I'm actually in my seat (I'm considering a midnight screening) in the theater. There have been so many great Bond songs but also some weird ones. Either way, looking forward to it!

Has taken several listens to get into the new song. The inane lyrics (those I can make out) really jar...
ReplyDeleteI like the new Adele song.

Good post, as usual.
I re-uploaded the player and it now has Live and Let Die included on it.
