Blogger Headache - A Few Words About Leaving Comments
Blogger is being a big ol' jerk today - just FYI that recent comments have been disappearing from Go Retro today, including my own. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? In the meantime I've changed a few things in my comment settings in the hopes that it will restart the system.
I've disabled the pain-in-the-arse word verification (thank you to Marlene over at Disguised As a Grownup for that suggestion) and have it set so I can moderate comments on older posts. You know that it's not that I don't trust all of you wonderful people out who regularly leave comments, but just until it seems it's back to normal. Thanks for your patience - you know I love you guys!
BTW, has anyone else discovered the new post editor? It's so much fun!

That is so irritating - I better check mine and see if this is happening.
ReplyDeleteIt took me a while to even discover that I could set it up so that I get emails for whenever someone leaves me a comment- I felt pretty stupid about this.
Sometimes I wish that this site would have a number of viewers for each post feature. Maybe that seems ridiculous. They do have this for your profile page.
Hey LaraAnn - if you put Google Analytics on your site (wish I could remember how to do this...but you can sign up at http://www.google.com/analytics and then you copy and post the tracking code in your HTML of your blog....well, long story short but once your site is being tracked by Google Analytics you get reporting that tells you the stats on every aspect of your blog including your posts.
ReplyDeleteAnyways the good news is I noticed the missing comments came back.
Most of the blogs I follow have mentioned this problem today, so you aren't the only one.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Barbara - I figured it was a Blogger bug.
ReplyDeleteYup - I've had issues too, as have many of my blogger buds. You are not alone.
ReplyDeleteI hate word verification......so thank you! :) I'd much rather people moderate comments if they're going to do anything. Having to type in those awful word captcha thingies is almost as bad as having rusty forks gouging out my eyeballs.
Wow. Google Analytics? I feel utterly stupid now. I have no idea what is going on, but it all sounds great to me. I am clueless. How do you set up the email thingy?
ReplyDeleteMimi - if you go to Blogger, your Dashboard, and then Settings there should be a link for Commenting. In there you can set all kinds of criteria for readers who comment...and somewhere near the bottom of the page there's a box where it says to enter the email address to send new comment notifications to...that should do the trick!
ReplyDeleteBelieve me I am still learning about the capabilities of Blogger. I don't like that have some new template designer function now that doesn't include my blog's template or any of the original ones for that matter. They only give you a choice of 5 or 6 template designs.
Just curious - is anyone out there going to attend this year's Blogger? A friend is going and I was going to go next year if she gives a good report. It would be fun to meet my fellow female bloggers.
Oops, I meant to ask if anyone was attending BlogHer.
